Stuck on the M50 when the phone goes?
The calls a Dublin business misses come in while you’re somewhere else: crawling round the M50, up a ladder in Rathmines, or with a customer in the shop. Let it ring out and they try the next number.
EdgeAudit answers in your business name, in a natural local voice, takes the caller’s name, number and what they need, and gets it to you the moment the call ends. It’s built and run in Derry by Stephen McLaughlin, who sets up every line himself.
Call answering for Dublin businesses, in detail
Your 01 number stays exactly as it is
Dublin’s 01 code covers the whole county and reaches into parts of Wicklow, Kildare and Meath. Whatever your number, it stays with your current provider, on your van and on your website. Calls reach your receptionist through call forwarding: every call, only after six and at weekends, or just the ones you can’t get to. If your 01 number runs on a hosted phone system rather than an ordinary landline, the forwarding lives inside that system, and we set it there with you. Either way, we test it with a real call before your receptionist answers a single customer.
On the road between jobs
Cover Swords to Bray and a lot of your day is the van: a job on the northside in the morning, a quote in Dún Laoghaire after lunch, and the M50 in between. That’s when the phone goes. With EdgeAudit the call is answered in your business name while you drive, and the details are on your phone before you’ve parked.
Dublin 15, D15 or just Blanchardstown
Dublin callers tell you where they are in their own way. One says Dublin 15, another reads out an Eircode starting D15, a third just says Blanchardstown, and all three point to the same part of Dublin. The old postal districts live on as the first three characters of the Eircode, so Dublin 24 is D24, which takes in Tallaght, and Dublin 6 takes in Rathmines and Ranelagh. Swords, Lucan and Dún Laoghaire have no district number, so callers there give the town. Your receptionist takes the address the way the caller gives it, with the Eircode if they have it to hand, and reads the callback number back to be sure it has it right. You know exactly where the job is before you ring back.
Northside, southside or the whole county
Cover the whole county, stay north of the Liffey, or keep inside the M50: you decide, and your receptionist knows. Before you go live we set it up with the districts and towns you cover, so a caller in Balbriggan or Bray gets a straight answer about whether you’ll come out to them. A job outside your patch still reaches you, as a message for you to decide on.
From a plumber in Finglas to a letting agent in Smithfield
The CSO counts 138,989 active enterprises in County Dublin, more than a third of the country’s total and 1.6% more than a year before, and across the Republic 92% of enterprises employ fewer than ten people (CSO, Business in Ireland 2024). In a firm that size, the calls come in while you’re doing the job, whether that’s a plumber in Finglas, a physio in Ranelagh, a letting agent in Smithfield or a garage in Tallaght. EdgeAudit answers at any hour and takes several calls at once, so a busy Monday morning costs the same as a quiet Sunday.
Closed for a bank holiday?
Change your receptionist’s opening line in your dashboard and it tells callers when you’re back, whether that’s after a bank holiday weekend, St Brigid’s Day or a week in the sun. Every enquiry still reaches you the moment the call ends, so you come back to a list, not a silence.

AI receptionist in Dublin: common questions
Something else on your mind? Ask on the free chat, or ring Stephen on +44 7926 144173.
Do you cover all of County Dublin?
Yes, from Balbriggan and Skerries to Dún Laoghaire, Tallaght and Lucan, and the parts of Wicklow, Kildare and Meath on 01 numbers. We set your receptionist up with the places you cover, so callers get a straight answer about whether you’ll come out to them.
Can I keep my 01 number?
Yes. It stays with your current provider and simply forwards to your receptionist, and we test a real call with you before you go live.
My 01 number is in Wicklow, Kildare or Meath. Is that covered?
Yes. The 01 area reaches into parts of all three counties, and your number works the same way wherever it is: it forwards to your receptionist, and the details reach you the moment the call ends. Tell us the towns you cover and your receptionist will know them.
Can I cover just the northside, or just the southside?
Yes. You tell us where you’ll go, by district, by town or by side of the Liffey, and your receptionist gives callers a straight answer. A call from outside your patch still reaches you as a message, so the decision stays yours.
Can callers give a Dublin district or an Eircode?
Either. A caller can say Dublin 15, read out an Eircode starting D15, or just say Blanchardstown. Your receptionist takes the address the way it’s given, with the Eircode if they have it, and it’s all in the message you get.
Where is EdgeAudit based, and can we meet in Dublin?
EdgeAudit is built and run in Derry by Stephen McLaughlin, who sets up every line himself. It works over your phone line, so a Dublin business gets the same service as one on his doorstep, and he’s glad to meet you in Dublin. Everything else happens by phone and video.
