EdgeAudit
For NI salons & barbers

Answering for salons & barbers, while your hands are full.

Mid colour with the gloves still wet, or halfway through a fade with the clippers in your hand, hair salons, barbers, nail bars, brow and lash studios and mobile stylists have nobody free to answer the phone. The call still lands on your existing number; EdgeAudit is what picks it up, takes the caller's name, their number and what they're after, and texts it to you.

Built for a busy chair

Nobody can answer with a colour on.

Finish a set of foils, and the missed call you didn't hear was somebody after a price, a Saturday slot or a cancellation, already trying the next salon on the street because nobody picked up. EdgeAudit closes that gap. It answers in your salon name, takes the caller's details and texts them straight to you, and sits alongside whatever booking app your salon already runs, not in place of it.

Both hands are busy, and the phone still rings

A salon phone rings at the worst possible moment. You've a colour on with the gloves still wet and the timer running. There's a dryer going at the next chair and music over the top of it. You're halfway through a fade with the clippers in your hand. Whatever you're doing, the person in the chair is paying for your attention, and picking up the phone takes it off them.

Most of what comes in is one of three things. Somebody new asking what a colour costs and whether you've anything Saturday. A regular ringing to move or cancel. Or somebody checking you do a treatment before they come in. Only the first is a new client, but the cancellation is the one that leaves a chair sitting empty, and you can only fill it if you hear about it early enough to ring down your list.

And the work worth most is booked a long way ahead: formals, weddings, communions. Those callers ring during the day, months in advance, and they keep ringing round until somebody talks to them.

EdgeAudit answers behind the number you already have. When nobody can get to it, it picks up in a local voice, takes the caller's name, number and what they're after, and texts it to you, so you read it between clients instead of finding a run of missed calls at closing. It doesn't open your column, it doesn't book anybody in, and it won't price a colour, because nobody can do that down a phone without seeing the hair. If your desk is covered all day and the phone always gets answered, you don't need this. If you're the only one in the shop, that's the gap it was built for.

How it works

Live in about five days, behind your own number.

Step 1

It picks up in your place

Whenever the chair's full, you're closed, or your hands are in someone's hair.

Step 2

Notes down what they want

A cut, a colour, nails, lashes or a cancellation, plus their name and number.

Step 3

It reaches you as a text

So you ring back and get them into the book.

Honest answers

Common questions

Can it book somebody in, check a Saturday gap, or take a cancellation while I'm mid colour?+

No to holding a slot or taking a deposit, because it isn't logged into your booking app to check your column for a gap. What it can do is get the caller's name and number down, note whether they're after a new booking or a change to one they've already got, and text that to you the moment the call finishes. For a salon, that's most of the value right there: a cancellation caught early is a chair you can still fill. It sits alongside whatever booking app you already run, not in place of it.

Will it quote a colour, or tell a caller whether they need a patch test?+

No to either. What a colour costs comes down to the hair itself, the length, the condition and what's been put on it before, so it takes the enquiry and leaves the price to you. Skin and allergies work the same way: a colour normally needs an allergy alert test done, and whether a particular client is due one is your call, not a receptionist's, the same as anything about your training.

I'm a one-chair barbershop. Is £249 a month worth it?+

Maybe not, and it's worth being straight about that. That's the flat Starter price, from £249 a month with no per-minute billing. Whether it earns its keep depends on how many enquiries a normal week actually loses, so before signing up it's worth totting up how many calls went unanswered last month and how many of those never got a callback. There's also the option of running it only on your closed day and in the evenings, rather than switching it on for the whole week.
