How an AI receptionist works, in one minute.
Emma answers a call for an example business, texts the details to the owner, then shows you the dashboard where you read every call and change what she says. After that, hear a whole call from ring to booking.
The one-minute film

Read what Emma says in the film
- 0:03Emma: Hi, you're through to Ridgeline Roofing. This is Emma, the AI receptionist. How can I help?
- 0:09Emma: I take their details. Then I text them straight to you.
- 0:14Emma: Customers can message me on WhatsApp too. I answer there, day or night.
- 0:19Emma: Every call I take shows up in your own dashboard.
- 0:22Emma: Tap a call to read every word.
- 0:25Emma: Then mark each lead as you work through them.
- 0:29Emma: You can even ask me who's still waiting on a ring back.
- 0:34Emma: Want me to say something different when I pick up? Just type it in.
- 0:39Emma: You can change my voice too. Pick one, and I'll sound like this.
- 0:43Cleo, a second voice: Hello, thanks for calling. I'm the AI receptionist. How can I help?
- 0:49Emma: Tell me anything I should know, in your own words.
- 0:52Emma: And give your team their own sign-in.
- 0:55Emma: I'm set up and looked after by Stephen, in Derry.
- 0:59Emma: Want to hear me answer as your business? Try me, just below.
What happens when a customer rings
-
1. Your number, as it is
The call forwards when you can't answer
You keep the number on your van, website and shopfront. Calls you miss, or calls after hours, forward to your receptionist. How call forwarding works.
-
2. Answered in your name
She answers like your own receptionist
She greets callers with your business name, in a local voice, answers the routine questions you've given her, and takes their name, number and what they need.
-
3. A text, straight away
You get the details on your phone
As soon as the call ends you get a text with who rang and what they want, so you ring back knowing the job. Where your booking system is connected, she can book routine appointments straight in.
-
4. Your dashboard
Every call, and you're in charge of her
Read every word of every call, mark leads as you work through them, change her opening line or her voice, and give your team their own sign-in. See everything she does.
Hear a whole call
A roofer in Derry is up a ladder when the phone goes. Somebody wants a price for new guttering and a visit next Tuesday. This is the whole call, then the text the owner gets.
- 0:02Emma: Hi, you're through to Ridgeline Roofing. This is Emma, the AI receptionist. How can I help?
- 0:07Martin: Hiya. I'm after a price for new guttering. Could somebody come out and measure up next Tuesday morning?
- 0:13Emma: Let me check the diary. Next Tuesday, I have ten o'clock free. Would that suit?
- 0:17Martin: Ten o'clock's perfect.
- 0:19Emma: Lovely. Can I take your name?
- 0:21Martin: It's Martin.
- 0:22Emma: Thanks, Martin. And what's the address for the visit?
- 0:25Martin: Fourteen Larchmount Road.
- 0:27Emma: That's you booked in for next Tuesday at ten o'clock, to measure up for new guttering. The team will see you then.
- 0:33Martin: Brilliant, thanks very much.

Demonstration call. Ridgeline Roofing, Martin, the number and the address are all invented. The booking text is the real format. Booking straight into a diary needs your booking system connected; otherwise she takes the request and you confirm it.
Questions owners ask after watching
Do I need a new phone number?
No. You keep your number and your provider. Your calls forward to the receptionist when you choose, for example when you don't answer, when you're busy, or after hours.
Can I change what she says?
Yes. Her opening line, her voice and the notes she works from are in your dashboard. We set her up with you first, and you hear her before any customer does.
Who sets it up?
I do. I'm Stephen McLaughlin and I run EdgeAudit from Derry. More about me.
What does it cost?
From £249 a month, with set-up included and a 30-day rolling contract. The pricing page has the full detail, and the Northern Ireland page explains how it compares with a staffed answering service.
