When the phone rings in Donegal and you're an hour from it, I answer.
Whether that's an 074 in Carndonagh or an 071 down in Bundoran, your number rings on exactly as it does now. If you can't get to it, I answer it, take the caller's name, number and what they're after, and text you the lot. Nothing changes on your side, and it's live in about five days.
Closer to Inishowen than the county town is
EdgeAudit is one person, run from Derry. Muff is about six miles up the road, Bridgend about eleven, Buncrana about fourteen and Moville about twenty. For most of Inishowen that's nearer than Letterkenny.
It makes no difference to how the service works, because all of it happens over the line you already have. It does mean that when you ring about your own phone, you get somebody who knows the road you're on and what the traffic's like at Bridgend on a Friday.
A county that takes the guts of two hours to cross
Donegal had 167,084 people at the 2022 census, spread over a coastline longer than any other county's. That's the whole problem in one sentence. The work is nowhere near the phone.
Inishowen is its own case. Buncrana had 6,971 people at the last census and Carndonagh 2,768, and a fair share of the trades and contractors up there work into Derry every day of the week. You're over the bridge at eight in the morning and the phone's sitting in a van in Clonmany. Further out at Malin Head, the most northerly point on the island and a signature stop on the Wild Atlantic Way, the calls come from people who found you on the road and won't ring twice.
The south and west run the other way entirely. Killybegs is about seventy-three miles from me, the far end of the county, and it lands more fish than anywhere else in Ireland: 166,423 tonnes in 2023, sixty-eight per cent of everything landed in the state. Boats don't keep office hours and neither do the people servicing them. Bundoran sits on an 071 rather than an 074 and runs on surf and visitors, which means a wet Tuesday in July is busier than most of the winter. If it's the town itself you're after, there's a page for Letterkenny.

Common questions
My number's an 071, not an 074. Does that matter?+
Not a bit. Most of the county is 074, including Letterkenny, all of Inishowen, Donegal Town, Killybegs and Dungloe. Bundoran and Ballyshannon sit in the 071 area instead, which catches people out. It doesn't matter either way, because this sits behind whatever number you already have rather than giving you a new one.
I'm in Killybegs and you're in Derry. That's the far end of the county.+
It is, about seventy-three miles. Nothing about the setup needs either of us to travel though. It's a phone call to work out how you want calls handled, then call forwarding on your own line, and you're live in about five days. Killybegs lands more fish than any other port in Ireland, and I'd rather the phone was answered while the boat's in than have you ring me back from the pier.
Most of my customers are in Derry but I'm based in Inishowen. Does that still work?+
That's a very common shape up there and it works fine. Your callers ring the number they've always rung, from either side of the border, and it behaves the same way for all of them. You decide when it picks up: overflow when you're on the phone already, after hours, weekends, or all the time.
Will it sound like it's from here, or will my callers get a call centre?+
A natural North-West voice by default, which is the accent your callers know. It is an AI receptionist and it says so if anyone asks it straight out. What it won't do is put a Donegal customer through to an agent in another country reading your business name off a screen.
